This woman can really write!! I found Saunders' first in her story, "Angels We Have Heard" in the compilation Mistletoe Magic. That story really is "magic" - so well written and memorable - that I went on Amazon and purchased all 7 books available that were either written entirely by her or contained her stories - got them all from one seller! (I also enjoyed Lisa Cach's "A Midnight Clear" in Misteltoe Magic.).Right Now, I'm reading Amy Saunders' story. "Can't Help Falling in Love" in this book, Blue Christmas. Again - wonderful writing! Amazing to find this level of expertise in a Christmas paperback!
Based on reading two of her stories, I would HIGHLY recommend other readers do as I've done - look for ALL of her writing from Amazon sellers. It will cost you, even if the books are .01, but it's WELL worth it - for many nights reading in bed and trying to keep your eyes open because the story is so good!

Hey! I enjoyed this book for the fact I KNEW every story was TRUE!!!! Those who think not, clearly do not know Elvis! I met him in a diner yesterday, & he confirmed it. Kudos to these wonderful authors for bringing these barely known snippets to life.
Elvis, Memphis and Christmas time...and all four stories in this anthology blend well, giving the reader a dazzling treat for the senses and plenty of laughter. Enjoy reading it with your feet up on the coffee table, an Elvis CD playing and a candy box with the King on the cover.
Amy Elizabeth Saunders – Can’t help falling in love
This is a fun story, about the rich author G. Charles Van Dusen, who gets stuck in an airport restaurant after he is robbed from his coat, his luggage and his wallet, while he is working on his next story. His waitress Bailey O’Connor takes pity on him, and offers him a ride to Memphis with her. As his rich family is out of reach thanks to severe snow storms on the coast, he accepts her offer.
What he does not expect, is the fact that she is driving a Volkswagen Bug, has no real experience about driving in the snow, and is in the habit of picking up other passengers as well, all going to Memphis. And she keeps calling him Gabriel, the name he never uses.
It was fun meeting all those strange characters, a grandmother on her way to her children, carrying lots of fruitcakes, a runaway meeting up with his band for a gig, and a wounded flying Elvis who fell from the sky.
But those strange characters all bond together during the journey, and after they arrived, they go their separate ways, except for Gabriel and Bailey, who check into the Original Heartbreak Hotel together.
But when Bailey finds out that Gabiel is not really an Elvis fan, and is using her love for the King, and her remarks, to write his piece, he is severely in the dog house. Can the spirit of Elvis help him out?
9 stars.
Linda Jones – Always on my mind
As her little girl really wants a Daddy for Christmas, Laura sets out to find her former boyfriend, who doesn’t know he is a father. What she doesn’t know is that he has been searching for her for years, and her mother never told her. So he is overjoyed with this second chance at love. As an accountant, Laura really believe that Michael would never make it in the music industry, and she wanted a steady man who could put down roots, and not someone always on the road. What she doesn’t know, is that he has become very rich and successful indeed, and owns his own pub in Memphis where he plays in the evenings.
So with Megan staying with her babysitter and the ghost of Elvis in their hotel room in the Original Heartbreak Hotel, Laura and Michael take some time to get to know each other again. Will they forgive each other?
A lovely second chance at love story I really enjoyed. And of course, the part of Elvis.
8 stars.
Sharon Pisacreta – All shook up
Kim Hanson is desparate enough to come to Memphis at Christmas to have a chance to speak with Spencer Modine, owner of Modine Music, in order to get the PR contract. Her company is failing lately, without her having a clue why, and this is her last chance to prove herself, or go bankrupt.
But Spencer wants someone who understands music and Memphis, and not another uptight businesslady. But when she gets a panic attack right there in his office, he gives her another chance and takes her out on town. But he soon realizes that he wants her in his arms, as his wife, and not as his businessrelation.
But to get Kim to believe him, is not easy. Especially when they sleep together before he offers her the contract after all, and she turns him down.
But when he finds out for her why her company is failing, she does need his help to kick her two timing boyfriend’s ass!
I liked the story, but Kim was just trying too hard to impress Spencer, and too desperate for me to feel more for her than sorry, and really like her. The woman has no idea how to have fun at all, and Spence is trying to show her. With a bit of help from Elvis of course.
6 stars.
Sandra Hill - Fever
The rich and powerful Clayton Jessup III has inherited lots of properties from his rich and powerful father, and The Original Heartbreak Hotel sure does not fit in with the rest. He intends to sell it straight away, or raze it to the ground. So when he visits, and finds out that the Fallon family is doing a live nativity scene on the vacant lot nextdoor, with real farm animals, he is enraged. How dare they abuse his property for that! He will send them on their way asap!
But when he falls and damages his head, it is gorgeous Annie Fallon, playing Priscilla Presley, who takes him to the hospital and later home to the farm, as he needs to be watched. And there Clay finds a different kind of life, where people who have little are still happier than he has ever been in his mansion.
I did enjoy this story, although it was a bit over the top, the characters are fun.
8 stars.
These four stories are all interlocked. The characters all meet the others somewhere in Memphis, the Original Heartbreak Hotel plays its part, complete with Elvis’ ghost, an Elvis dressed as Santa outside the door, who seems to know everything, and the Hounddog café that serves Elvis’ favourite dishes. This book is filled with Christmas, Elvis, Elvis memorabilia, Graceland, and most of all, lonely people finding each other.
Even as a non-Elvis fan, I really enjoyed this book. Recommend if you can still find it somewhere. I bought it for the Amy Elizabeth Saunders story.
Overall rating 8 stars.
Four short stories jampacked into one great collection that deserves two thumbs up!!! Full of humor and love and plenty of plain Christmas magic that only Elvis can bring?
First story was probably my favorite, weird cause I got the book for Sandra Hill's tale, but in the end I liked the first one wriiten by Amy Elizabeth Saunders best. It's called "Can't Help Falling in Love". A sweet, yet classic tale of 'Scrooge' via Memphis style......Charles, a stuffy and rich Conneticutite stranded in the St. Louis airport finds help in a generous waitress intent on helping him get to Memphis by Christmas. The only problem? She is driving in a beat-up old Voltz Beetle and seems to have a soft spot for stranded people and Elvis. Charles soon learns he will have to swallow his stuffy pride and learn to enjoy the holidays instead of dread and make fun of them. With five people stuffed in the Beetle all the way to Memphis, Charles doesn't think things can get much worse until he finds himself having to stay at the Original Heartbreak Hotel. A place well-known for its rooms named for Elvis songs and movies, but he must stay on track and finish his purpose for being there...even if it means using the waitress named Bailey, the very woman he finds himself falling in love with. Can he do it? Will he risk his only known happiness for it? Elvis will help him see the way...and Charles won't be able to 'help falling in love'... 5 stars
'Always on My Mind' by Linda Jones is more of a 4 star read, but still entertaining. A story about lost love found and the magic of Christmas to help it along the way...Laura has been carrying around a secret for 5 years that she must reveal at last, but with what cost? An affair that hadn't worked between her and an out of work musician named Michael had produced a little girl. That little girl wanted to know her father for Christmas and by God, Laura would give it to her, no matter how hard it would be for her. Seeing him again, sitting at the grand piano, in a classy club wasn't what she expected. Although the flame was still there, especially when he looked her way and bolted out of the seat to run after her when she ran. Laura needs to keep her heart intact long enough to tell him about his daughter, and Michael needs to keep his head intact so he can reveal his own secret. With a touch of Elvis's help and the Christmas spirit, the long lost lovers find each other via the Original Heartbreak Hotel once again...but will it last this time?
"All Shook Up" by Sharon Pisacreta was the third tale and I gave it a 5 star rating. A word of help here, the second story is connected to this one, so keep your eyes out. ~ Kim was not having a good day or year for that matter. She flew all the way to Memphis to try and talk to the biggest record businessman in the country on Christmas to save her floundering PR business. Landing this account would save it from ruin. The trick is to get Spencer Modine to see her before she passes out, has a panic attack or falls down from exhaustion! Spencer finds her charming and can't help but have her convince him why she was the woman for the job...besides passing out on him the first day, but besides that, he likes her, he really likes her and wants to give her a chance. Can she do it? Can he concentrate on the job at hand and not her innocent eyes and soul? With a little help from Elvis and the Heartbreak Hotel, Spencer learns miracles are there, they just happen on Christmas!
Last, but not least, "Fever" by Sandra Hill was a 5 star read of course, lol. A grinch and giver, this story tugs at the heartstrings. ~ Clay has just learned he has inherited the Original Heartbreak Hotel from his dead father. He sees it and is stunned. How could an upstanding man like his father own such a monstrocity? Clay knows how to fix this, he will have it torn down and built into something grand, along with the lot nextdoor. The only thing he doesn't expect is to find a group of orphans dressed as 1960 Elvis Style Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus acting out the nativity scene for tips. Clay hates Christmas...but after a slip and fall, courtesy of the Mother Mary and donkeys, he vows to sue them for all they have until he comes eye to eye with Mary, or Annie to be exact. A poor farmer trying to save her farm and her siblings. Can Clay thaw his icy heart? Will Elvis's spirit save him before he freezes completely? Will a deep secret hidden for 30 years sway him? Funny and sweet, all Sandra trademarks!!!
Very entertaining book!!! Well worth the money! Elvis will put a smile on your face to be sure and you'll wonder if he does indeed still live...even if its only in the hearts of the believers... ;)
