The Traitor Queen Book 3 of the Traitor Spy Traitor Spy Trilogy eBook Trudi Canavan
I loved the BLACK MAGICIAN TRILOGY and while I enjoyed this trilogy it wasn't as good as the first, (IMHO). The author said that it was hard going back and writing another trilogy but I really think that there is room for another book(s) or another trilogy waiting if she wanted to continue with these lands and its people. It would be interesting to see I there were gem caves to be found in Elyne and if the Allied Lands able to make stones, especially storestones? Was the magician guild able to find a cure for the rot addition? Even though it has been outlawed, there will always be criminals who will make and sell the product. While the guild may be able to prevent more magicians from becoming addicted, what about the ones who were already addicted and were unable to "wean" themselves off the drug, what happened to them if there was not a cure? Were the other Allied Lands experiencing in the same problem with rot? How did rebuilding and the new government established under the Traitor Queen, Savara go and did they join the other Allied Lands? These are some on the things that another book or series could use but my idea of the center for this trilogy is Igra, the land where magic is forbidden. We know they have sent spies to Kyralia and developed weapons; ballshooter and minestrike, which allowed them to capture all the lands surrounding them. If they have spies in one of the Allied Lands it's likely they are in the others. They introduced rot into the Kyralia in an attempt to weaken and demoralize the Magician Guild, along with the population. It seems obvious that they are preparing the way for war so that they can not only gain more territory but to outlaw magic completely. If a war like this was begun, it would take all the people in the Allied Lands and Sachaka aligned together to prevail. I know the author is currently writing the MILLENNIUM RULE trilogy, but I hope she will revisit these characters and lands for a new series.

The Traitor Queen Book 3 of the Traitor Spy Traitor Spy Trilogy eBook Trudi Canavan Reviews
After thoroughly enjoying Canavan`s first Magicians trilogy, I was hoping she could capture the magic again in the Traitor Spy Trilogy. I wasn't disappointed. Though seeing familiar characters aged 20 years was difficult at times, they stayed central enough to the story to satisfy fans of Sonea, Regin, Dannyl, Cery, and Rothen. The dual storylines in Krylia and Sachaca were woven together evenly, creating a nice flow. Toward the end of Traitor Queen, I started feeling the familiar separation anxiety I feel when I come to the end of an engaging story with relatable characters and dilemmas. The epilogue, however leaves room for another trilogy, which I hope she writes! I definitely recommend both trilogies to any fantasy fan.
I had a little trouble remembering what happened in the prior books of this series but it all came together. I love Trudi's books. She creates believable but magical worlds with well developed characters. I've read all her books so I'll be waiting to see where she goes next.
Story is really good but I bought this item twice and the disc is missing more than half of the book as if there should have been a second disc that is always missing. In the end, I bought the paperback and discovered that the audio book indeed stops more than 100 pages from the story's conclusion. Such a shame because the reader does an excellent job bringing these characters to life.
Ok... I might not fair, but it's unavoidable that I compare this one with The High Lord book in previous series. Black Magician series final book is the one that made me love the series. Twisting and surprising plot, nice romance and bittersweet ending (well, I kinda dislike the ending but it still felt appropriate). While Traitor Queen? Gosh... It's so shallow! No real surprise, slow and dragging in some places. Well, in conclusion, it is not satisfied me. I feel something still missing when I finished read this book.
**(SPOILER ALERT)**
First, about Sonea. I know this series is not focused in Sonea solely, but she is still one of the main actor. Since the first book, I've suspected something will happen between Sonea and Regin, considering the story plot. The second book made it clear it will happen. So, I'm not surprise at all that they become lover in the end. But honestly I disappointed because the dynamic between them in becoming lover is incomplete. It feels jumping from scene to scene that left me feeling something is missing in between. And the final conclusion, 'they attracted with each other'. Attracted? Come on, others saw it as they love each other but they themselves cannot admit that much? Hmm... Anyway, compared with Sonea-Akkarin love story, Sonea-Regin felt so undeveloped.
Second, Cery scenes. It feels so slow and dragging. Just loose the tension after few scene simply because it feels repeated itself, no progress. And his end of life... oh, so sad and anticlimax. I like Cery so I feel a bit injustice for him to end so sad.
Third, Sachaka scenes wit Lorkin, the Traitors, Dannyl, Tayend etc. Now, these scenes are good, in my opinion. The pace is good, good action, enough emotion and well developed storyline. I like the way Trudi give the message that revolution itself is not enough. A lot of other things should be done to build an 'ideal' country.
All in all, this book is still enjoyable but I think Trudi can make it better than this.
Not going to lie - not my favorite of the 6 novels in this universe. It took a while to get up to speed and then a lot happened very quickly. I have a feeling this is not the last trilogy in this universe. Not all the open questions are answered, and there are major current events in surrounding kingdoms that are introduced and discussed as being important to the future of the Magician's Guild but are never fully explored. If you are a fan of the universe and have read the other 5, you should pick this one up as well.
SLIGHT SPOILERS While the main arc surrounding the Traitors is completed, Dannyl's research is not - we do receive a few more answers regarding the wastes and history, but more questions arise as well. Parts that I felt were important based on my investment to this book and the characters felt almost rushed.
